Best practices with Primary Watch at night when using Index Sleep Monitor

I recently recevied my Garmin Index Sleep monitor. I want to understand best practices with my Fenix 8 when I'm sleeping with the index sleep monitor. The Fenix still has a sleep schedule and every night at 10pm the watch sensors turn on even though I'm not wearing the watch. (it's sitting on the night table)

Here's the full scenerio:
1. Both Fenix 8 (device I used to wear to track sleep), and now the new Index Sleep Monitor, have a sleep schedule set 10pm to 6am daily
2. At 9:45pm, I take off my Fenix, set it on the night table, all sensors go off (since it's no longer on my wrist) and I put on the Index Sleep Monitor and get in bed
3, At precisely 10pm, the Fenix starts blinking like a night club. Flashing green heart rate, plus red PulseOx. LEDs are on (again not wearing the watch, likely triggered by the Sleep Schedule start)
4. Now I have to turn the light on, grab the Fenix from the night table and either power it off or manually turn off Sleep mode.

I did some research and see no way to turn off the sleep schedule on the Fenix. This whole flow seems really inefficient and not well thought out. If there is no way to address this without manual intervention on the Fenix, I'll likely be returning the Indexl Sleep Montitor.

PS - I’d prefer not to put the Fenix on the charger every night, since I want to preserve battery life — and I don’t think that should be required just to avoid this behavior.

  • I don't understand why Garmin can't have these two devices communicate with each other, so the Band, once activated, tells the watch to switch its sensors off. I that case, you could even wear the watch and the band. But Garmin, according to their moderators, don't want to give you this option. That's why I canceled my order before I even got the device. Well, money saved money earned....

  • You can add a Battery Saver Control to the watch which can turn off what you don't want. When you go to bed, activate Battery Saver and you should be fine.
