Sleep index and Watch

hi all I’m sorry but I couldn’t find the answer to this but should I be shutting off my Fenix 8  at night when I’m using sleep index ? reason I ask is because when I opened up Connect and the watch is on it looks like it’s still connecting to the watch.

  • You can leave your watch powered up but you have to take it off if you're wearing the Index Sleep.

Garmin Connect use Bluetooth to communicate with your watch and will automatically sync to it when you open the app, whether you're wearing the watch or not,

This is normal and won't cause any issues as long as you're not wearing both at once. All of the tracked metrics (pulse, breath, blood ox) all merge into a single timeline whether they come from the watch or Index Sleep.

    Does that answer your question?

  • Hi, I have my Index Sleep Monitor for ~6 weeks now. And I swiched to garmin Fenix 8 a few days before. In the morning I'm getting body battery score, but I do not see how it evolved during the night. I'm removing watch from my hand and adding ISM, I'm not using them at the same time? Do I need some time to get body battery line changes during nights?

  • Hi @Richny,

You don’t need to turn off your Fenix 8 at night for the sleep index to work. The watch is designed to track sleep continuously while it’s on, and it will sync the data to Garmin Connect once you open the app. Leaving it on overnight won’t harm the watch or drain the battery excessively, and shutting it off could actually interrupt the sleep tracking.

So just wear it to bed as usual, and let Connect do its thing in the morning — your sleep data will be recorded and synced automatically.
