Recent Stress no longer being sync'ed to Training Readiness

Since using the Index Sleep Monitor (4 Nights) 'Recent Stress' is no longer showing in 'Training Readiness'

Connect iOS & Web both show '--' While my device (Epix Pro) says "Wear this watch for three consecutive days and nights to receive stress history"

I have weeks of 24/7 Stress showing on my device and across Connect.

Anyone else?

Response From Support:

"Upon review, this would appear to be by design - with some stress data getting pulled from the watch, and some pulled from the sleep monitor there is not enough stress data on the watch (the primary wearable) to calculate this into your Training Readiness. I can absolutely see why this is not ideal, so what we are doing is raising a case with the engineering team to 1) check that this is by design and 2) create a feedback system with them requesting that this feature be changed so stress scores can be combined into training readiness from both the watch and the sleep monitor. In the meantime, a workaround should be that if you wear both the watch and the sleep monitor to sleep, then this training readiness should have ample stress recording to calculate stress into this equation"

  • Thank you for the insight. Was planning to get index but will wait. If not resolved what’s the point in getting one if you have to sleep with both. Dear lord the answers from support these days: this is not day driver device it aims to those that do not want to wear a watch at night and then tells you to wear watch while you sleep Rofl

  • That was exactly my response! Totally negates the need for a Sleep Monitor! With this and the incorrect 7 day resting HR being pushed to my device, I’m considering returning it in the 30 day window and waiting a while to see if these ‘essential’ bugs get fixed. If it is ‘By Design’ It will definitely be going back!

  • Hi Garmin support , will you be updating this post with updates regarding this ? I also see stress missing from training readiness now since using the sleep index. I’m disappointed that I waited 2 months for this to ship and it’s load with potential bugs .

  • When I asked the question if I could wear both watch and band, this is the answer I got from Garmin-Blake...it seems they don't have their act together...

We appreciate you sharing this feedback and giving us insight to your opinion on what is most useful to you. The Index Sleep Monitor is not designed to be used in the manner that you have specifically described, as it is meant to be worn in-place of one of our watch products for users who are either unable, or uninterested in sleeping in with a watch on. This may also be of use to other customers who have say an Edge cycling computer only and would like to gather additional sleep information that those products cannot track.

This product is designed and built for a specific use and function and we do understand this will not be the best solution for all users. All the same, we sincerely thank you for the feedback.

    Glad I cancelled my order

Looks like there could be a link between this issue and Data Seems Too Good?

  • I believe that wearing both would be like wearing 2 different Garmin watches. The ‘primary’ fitness device will always override other’s watch data. It will be same with the Sleep Index. If you wear the watch (it being primary device) will always override the Sleep Index data. So wearing the Sleep index will be totally useless. If only there was clear communication of why is this designed so or will there be a fix coming to accommodate all the metrics: this is a bit tricky as they will need to push new FW to all the watches to support pushing recent stress to them.

  • Exactly, if both devices would talk to each other and the band would tell the watch to switch all sensors off while it is working over night, you could either wear your watch (and hopefully get better sleep data from the band) or not. But Garmin didn't design the band this way. And while reading the post here, I get the impression that the bands data are not better than what I get from my watch, apart from all the typical Garmin bugs you get with a brandnew device. I would imagine they fix it in the next 3-6 month, but I am glad I cancelled my order.

  • After reading the review by D.C. Rainmaker - ISM and Garmin Watch perform the same function and the ISM is for those people who can't/won't wear their watch at night.
