Sleep Score not picked up by Training Readiness

I've been using my Index Sleep Monitor for a few nights now and it records my sleep as expected and I get a sleep score.  However, in the Training Readiness section of the Garmin Connect App, it has a blank sleep score and says - No data on device.

So my training readiness is not taking my sleep into account which seems like the reason to use this device in the first place.

  • So today sync ISM, checked at connect that ISM data was there and them sync the watch.

Everything was correct. The stress mean value, sleep index and body battery was correct on the watch.

So, for now it seems that you jave to make sure that ISM values are on the servers before watch sync.

  • This morning Training Readiness (in the garmin connect app on my phone) claimed "no data" on device  for sleep score when in reality the Sleep widget (in the garmin conect app)  shows the sleep score and data. Same issue on my watches Venu X1 and Fenix 8. Interestingly on both of my watches clicking on Training Readiness brings you to the next screen where "factors" to Training Readiness are listed. The Sleep Score "factor" indicates No Data on device but clicking on it shows you exactly sleep data and score for the day. On the other end, on the Garmin Connect app clicking on the same Sleep Score "factor" shows just text and other information related on how the sleep index is calculated etc. Also HRV status continues to be missing although is it recorded and displayed in other widgets on the watch and in the Sleep Widget on the watches. Also under the Training Readiness card (In Focus) the "Recent Sleep" is listed as Good (for the day) but "Sleep " is missing and noted with "---".  I am going to reinstall the app and see what happens. A few days ago, for some reason the Sleep Widget (on the phone Garmin App) showed the sleep timeline but when clicking on the widget the app claimed no data and no timeline was visible but all the other metrics were there. After logging out and logging back in the issue seemed to be solved but the other issues mentioned above remain.

Note: if Garmin is reading this: The Web Connect portal indicated that there is "Not Enough Data" under the Sleep Score in Training Readiness while the phone app states "No Data on Device" while on my fenix 8 and Venu X1 claims "No Sleep Data".

None of these statements are true (based on the fact the Sleep Data exists and reported in the Sleep widget with a score) or consistent. Although they all seem to refer to the same concept (the sleep index), they actually communicate different things: no data, not enough data, no data on device (unclear—does this mean my phone or the Garmin cloud?), or no sleep data. Could you please standardize the messaging across all platforms so it’s clear and consistent? This would help us better understand what the device is actually trying to communicate.

  • Hello!

We have made improvements to this interaction in the 12.70 software update for users who have fenix 8 Series, Forerunner 570/970, Vivoactive 6, and Venu X1.

Users who have an older device may need to use the following workaround to eliminate the possibility of false on-wrist detection by their paired wearable.

    1. Ensure Garmin Connect mobile app is open and running on the phone.
    2. Verify the watch synced in the last 5 minutes.  You may need to go to More > Garmin Devices > Device Name to manually sync.
    3. Put on Index Sleep Monitor and verify that it vibrates indicating it has connected and is recording heart rate.
    4. Remove watch from their wrist and power off.
    5. Go to sleep.
    6. Upon waking, remove ISM and turn it inside out, OHR facing up.
    7. Verify that the Index Sleep Monitor is syncing to the Garmin Connect mobile app.
    8. Power on watch and put on wrist.
    9. Verify that watch syncs.  The 2 devices may need to sync multiple times for a full True Up of all data.

If you experience this issue after updating your watch to 12.70 please create a new thread.
