It seems half-backed!!

I ordered one but I am already prepared to send it back, unless certain features are being implemented.

I still want wear my watch, because I don't want to look for it on the bedside table in case I wake up and want to see how late it is.

I still want to wear my watch, because if I have  to get out of bed, I use the flashlight almost always. I don't want to search for the watch and put in on in case I need it.

So when I wear the band, I would hope that watch and band communicate and the watch will switch all sensors off. It would even be acceptable if you get prompted by the watch that it detected the band and asks you to switch off all sensors for the night.

Unfortunately it seems that Garmin is only targeting the few people who don't care too much about their data, because they take the watch off and lose all sleep and recovery data. I would venture to say that more people than not are wearing their Garmin 24/7 otherwise most of their data are totally useless.

Maybe Garmin should include the people who still wear their watch in addition to the band (hoping it provides better data!!) and makes sure that band and watch in addition with Connect provide the best possible data.

DCR said that if you would wear watch and band together, with both having all the sensors enabled, the watch would override the band's data because it is be your primary wearable....who in the world thought this is a good idea? Someone at Garmin who doesn't want to sell the band? So you could only wear watch and band at the same time when you wear a watch that is NOT your primary wearable...OR can you switch on the battery saver, thus disabling the sensors, and switch them on after the band "reported" your nightly date to Connect?

When I order the band on wednesday, it said 1-3 day delivery time, I guess it's rather 3-5 weeks. I assume that by that time, there is plenty of insight available and we have a better idea of how useful/less this band actually is. I'll definitely give it a try, but if everything I heard and read so far is true, it will be returned.

  •  We appreciate you sharing this feedback and giving us insight to your opinion on what is most useful to you. The Index Sleep Monitor is not designed to be used in the manner that you have specifically described, as it is meant to be worn in-place of one of our watch products for users who are either unable, or uninterested in sleeping in with a watch on. This may also be of use to other customers who have say an Edge cycling computer only and would like to gather additional sleep information that those products cannot track.

This product is designed and built for a specific use and function and we do understand this will not be the best solution for all users. All the same, we sincerely thank you for the feedback.
