What sort of weight variation is normal?

Hi,

I've been on a mission to lose some weight over the last 2 months, so I've gone back to using my S2 scale to track my weight every day. I'm monitoring my calories intake very carefully using MyFitnessPal and exercising a lot more.

My weight is trending down (from about 86kg to 79kg), but at least once a week my scales will show an increase of 2kg over 24 hours, then back to the previous reading.

E.g. it might go 81.5, 81.3, 81.2, 83.5, 81.0, 81.1, 79.9. 82.1, 79.8, etc.

The questions are (a) can your weight really changes that much in 24 hours? (b) can the scale be out by this much?
