As the subject says, I've been storing my S2 on it's side out of the way between use and just waned to check that wasn't a problem.

Possibly could be an issue, as the scale might report a weight that will be off by 2kg. See thread - Scale not accounting for it own weight? - Index S2 Smart Scale - Health & Wellness - Garmin Forums
I was storing mine on top of a card box (not a 100% flat surface) and I was getting inconsistent weights.
Now I don't move it, it's on the spot where I weight myself, the readings seem ok so far.
Great, thanks for letting us know. If the issue persists in spite of this, I'd reach to Product Support through their website at https://support.garmin.com.
Hi, thanks for getting back to me. That info is really useful. I'll stop storing it on it's side now !
If you choose to store the scale on it's side between use, you should tare the scale before taking the next measurement. The steps to do so can be found here
