Does anyone have a workaround to add body fat % without buying this piece of garbage?

I like my Garmin Fenix 6 just fine.  I am a fitness enthusiast and have recently become more scientific about calories, macros, and body composition.  I get DEXA scans every few months and would like to be able to to add this information to Garmin Connect.  Garmin has this locked down so you are forced to buy their scale.  While I hate that they do this, I was willing to buy the scale for this feature alone.  Sadly, I can't in good conscience buy something with such terrible customer reviews. The reviews across the internet are atrocious.  Highly inaccurate, difficult to connect or maintain connection to wifi, horrible experience if using for more than one person in the house, etc..  I simply will not buy this for $150 knowing that it has a bad reputation and has driven so many people to the point of madness trying to troubleshoot this old tech.  Why wouldn't they just charge a "fee" to unlock the feature allowing you to manually input your BF% in Garmin Connect?  At least then I wouldn't have to 1) feel like a fool for spending money on something that I know is a poor product, and 2) have to go through the frustration.  Hopefully Garmin is listening to the reviews and creating a new solution that people like and is actually good for their brand.  If I can't make this work, I'll likely have to look at a competitive solution (my watch is due for a replacement anyways).

Thank you!

Even in garmin connect you are not able to modify the data manually, so I do no think you would be able to add any data from your DEXA scans.

But I am pretty happy with my garmin scale 2. The only gripe I have with it is:

    1. You have to stomp it to turn it on

    2. The body fat % is following an roughly accurate trend line but it is not possible to offset it. It is a problem because it is a known parameter with the technology, ignoring it is just idiotic.

We know the limitations of BIA ,Garmin should have given us a tool to set manual point of reference for body fat.

Other than that I am happy about the scale

  • I have measured my body fat using 7 point skinfold testing for 3 years, I am 57 and a keen cyclist, I read a review on these scales that said they were accurate. So I thought that I'd treat myself to this rather expensive set of scales. I wish that I hadn't bothered, my ideal weight is 73Kg with body fat at or around 8%. I'm currently 75.2 kg with, according to the calipers 10.3% fat, the scales gave my fat as 24.8%. As that's complete rubbish,  there's no way that I have a quarter of my total weight in body fat, I'm guessing that every other metric apart from the weight measurement is nonsense.

Very disappointed to have found this out after spending money on this white elephant.
