Index S2 scale bricked after firmware update

Hi,

My Index S2 scale suddenly stopped syncing with my app (but still worked just fine otherwise). I removed it from the app and re-added it, this led to a firmware update and afterwards it's completely bricked. It briefly flashes a firmware update progress bar (~20% complete) when turning on the scale and doesn't turn on. I've tried holding the reset button while putting in the battery but that doesn't work either.

I gave it to the authorized reseller in my country and they weren't able to reset it either. Since my 2-year warranty expired literally a month ago, they're saying the only option is that they can send it to Garmin for a refurb, but that will cost the same as buying a new scale (~130 euros).

That's just ridiculous, the scale worked just fine for 2 years and before it stopped syncing and bricked itself on the firmware update that installed itself automatically..

Any suggestions?
