After SW 3.00 - No Networks Found / Invalid Password / Blinking WiFi icon + Red X when syncing

Hello,

yesterday my index S2 upgraded to firmware 3.00.

Today I saw that:

User settings were not synced, which means that no usernames are on the scale, only empty persons with question marks.

Date and Time settings are also not synced and do not change after several measurements. (I switched to 24h in the app)

I did:

1) Factory reset

2) removed the scale from Garmin web interface and from the Garmin app

3) Re-attached the scale again via Garmin app (and yes, I of course removed indexS2 from bluetooth settings)

4) Did 2) and 3) several times

5) Tried to install the firmware again via the manual process. Did not work since 3.00 is already on the scale...

6) Deleted the WLAN connection and attached it again

7) Switched to another WLAN

4) Replaced the batteries and did 1), 2) 3), 6) again.

Nothing helped. the scale still does not show the user(s) I attached to the Garmin app and does not sync weight.

And I also noticed that after trying to sync a red X appears in the upper left corner of the scale for a short time.

Any hints?

Regards Uli

  • "so please don't say I am just sitting here and waiting for Garmin without try " What part of my message said this ? Like I said, Garmin more than likely knows what the problem is, and how to fix it , and anyone with a half brain should realise is the difficulty delivering the fix to the devices given that they are off network..

  • I am not want to start a flamewar, just want to point out if you can configure your router well enough to connect, you are lucky. And everyone is lucky who can get the scale working again
Considering how many ways I (and other users here) have tried, that's the right word

If I remember well, someone mentioned earlier, the scale is ready to accept fw upgrade from express via ant+, just express not ready to send fw to the scale. If it's true, upgrade express to be capable send new fw should't be a big deal, since it already works with other devices. If it's not true, no one can deliver any fix to device. Or they will send preconfigured routers to every garmin service center?

  • Has it been resolved? I don’t hear anything about it anymore and mine still doesn’t work.

  • I do view my success as good luck. I struggled with my non-functioning scale trying everything I could find or think of. I factory reset in numerous times. searched and searched again. I combed through all the settings on my router and tripped over one that worked.

That said: It seems clear to me that there is more than one fault here. I think it's likely that the base problem is buggy code in the update/delivery code and/or the firmware itself. If so that would suggest that there are problems. I thought I read problems with the FW failing to upload and install completely.

The issue I had was authentication, the scale could 'see' my WiFi but the scale was unable to get the (correct) password accepted by my router. The software (3.00.00) did upload to my scale.

I posted my issues quite awhile ago here. I also said at the time that Garmin is responsible for breaking their product, so they need to fix it or make every owner whole: Replace or refund. I hope they do so, they have an ethical ( and likely legal) obligation to.

  • Hello!

We just released a fix in SW 3.11 that should resolve this. The software release should continue rolling out to all users in the coming days.  If you are still experiencing symptoms like the original report here, please start a new thread.

In addition to this update, we have released the following FAQ article that will help with connecting your Scale with WiFi. My Index S2 Scale No Longer Syncs Data
