After SW 3.00 - No Networks Found / Invalid Password / Blinking WiFi icon + Red X when syncing

Hello,

yesterday my index S2 upgraded to firmware 3.00.

Today I saw that:

User settings were not synced, which means that no usernames are on the scale, only empty persons with question marks.

Date and Time settings are also not synced and do not change after several measurements. (I switched to 24h in the app)

I did:

1) Factory reset

2) removed the scale from Garmin web interface and from the Garmin app

3) Re-attached the scale again via Garmin app (and yes, I of course removed indexS2 from bluetooth settings)

4) Did 2) and 3) several times

5) Tried to install the firmware again via the manual process. Did not work since 3.00 is already on the scale...

6) Deleted the WLAN connection and attached it again

7) Switched to another WLAN

4) Replaced the batteries and did 1), 2) 3), 6) again.

Nothing helped. the scale still does not show the user(s) I attached to the Garmin app and does not sync weight.

And I also noticed that after trying to sync a red X appears in the upper left corner of the scale for a short time.

Any hints?

Regards Uli

  • I tried multiple routers with many settings combination, multiple phone, notebook hotspot whitout any success.
I am not think pay any kind of extra fee to fix it or replace it to new one is a acceptable/correct solution, since garmin killed the devices

    +1

  • Sorry, but for me, after over 1 month waiting, without any success hardly to believe in it: there is a possibility even support told it. And response with  "would be" and "if garmin" is not an answer
Now it's just a strong maybe.

And I think it's understandable that we are getting angrier and angrier, because it seems that the solution currently is further than james webb from the earth

  • Hi everyone, inspired by the forum, I tested various combinations. In summary, I have the following situation:

    1. iPhone SE2 hotspot (maximum compatibility) --> Scale syncs perfectly
    2. Samsung S22 hotspot (only 2,4GHz) --> Scale syncs perfectly
    3. FritzBox 7490 with an additional repeater TP-Link TL-WA850RE --> scales synchronized perfectly
    4. FritzBox 7490 alone --> Scale does not synchronize! (Establish and check WLAN connection via Connect App possible)

Point 4 was my standard connection before the update. Help with point 3.

With my S22, the Horspot even works when there is an active connection to my WLAN on the Fritzbox. But also without. The measured values definitely arrive in the ConnectApp.

  • Can you provide more details about s22 settings? I have same phone, maybe skipped some combination Pray

  • Hi fila187. I activate the hotspot with the default setting.
    Settings: 2,4GHz and WPA2-Personal.
I don't switch off the WLAN connection to my router manually. In this combination, I reconnected the scale to the WLAN using the Garmin ConnectApp.

  • AVM FritzBox 7530

    Garmin S2

Before the update to Garmin 3.0 - no problems

Since the update to Garmin 3.0 no connection to Wifi

    Emergency solution =>

    AVM 7530 => LAN => Apple Airport Extreme 2 TB => S2 is working

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Test today with Withings scale paired with FritzBox 7530.

    No problems

Garmin please do your homework. Thanks

  • Same issue. Same steps taken to try and reset plus 45m on help desk chat with Garmin “it’s an issue we are aware of” was the best info I got from them!!!
my scale just sits at the Bluetooth trying to connect message despite many attempts to reset it.
    So frustrating.

  • May I suggest commenting on Garmin’s social posts? Perhaps that will gain some attention beyond the help desk ?

I just posted on IG here. https://www.instagram.com/reel/CpNdkQorVta/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=

someone in marketing will be monitoring the social comments so if enough people post about it perhaps it can get addressed this way.

  • I don’t have any social media accounts, so I can’t help here.

Sorry. Garmin, but what is going on?! This problem exists for over a month now, our products are useless and a) you do not provide a solution, b) you do not offer a temporary fix or rollback, c) you provide no timeline, d) you basically provide no info on the nature and cause of the problem, although some smart forum users figured out the problem themselves and did your job of informing other scale owners, for which I’ like the thank them.

I cannot conclude anything else than that you are at a total lack of service here, rendering an expensive product useless and offering nothing. and I mean absolutely nothing. This might sound harsh, but I’m really fed up with this and if it wasn’t for some self control, I would have been at the point of just throwing away the scale all together and buying a cheap BT-scale. Bad for my wallet, bad for the environment, but at least it would work and sync to my phone.

A last call: Garmin, can you please inform us of your efforts to sort this out?

  • It's very unfortunate for Garmin that no user has found a fix for their product yet. Joy
