After SW 3.00 - No Networks Found / Invalid Password / Blinking WiFi icon + Red X when syncing

Hello,

yesterday my index S2 upgraded to firmware 3.00.

Today I saw that:

User settings were not synced, which means that no usernames are on the scale, only empty persons with question marks.

Date and Time settings are also not synced and do not change after several measurements. (I switched to 24h in the app)

I did:

1) Factory reset

2) removed the scale from Garmin web interface and from the Garmin app

3) Re-attached the scale again via Garmin app (and yes, I of course removed indexS2 from bluetooth settings)

4) Did 2) and 3) several times

5) Tried to install the firmware again via the manual process. Did not work since 3.00 is already on the scale...

6) Deleted the WLAN connection and attached it again

7) Switched to another WLAN

4) Replaced the batteries and did 1), 2) 3), 6) again.

Nothing helped. the scale still does not show the user(s) I attached to the Garmin app and does not sync weight.

And I also noticed that after trying to sync a red X appears in the upper left corner of the scale for a short time.

Any hints?

Regards Uli

  • Either their firmware delivery process is a nightmare and they aren't that in control or they've messed more up than we're currently seeing and the wifi connection issues are just the tip of the ice.

When I said the Support, that I am not willing to wait months for a solution, I was assured that this problem with 3.0 has the highest priority, and it will not take months until there is a solution.

If this statement is not true, someone from Garmin should be honest and not make a secret of it. Only in this way will customers not lose confidence in the company.

  • The scale works for me with the hotspot on the iPhone SE2

The scale does not work with my iPhone XR, I will open a ticket with Apple. No, i am kidding. Neither Apple, nor AVM are the problem here.

  • Yes, I can confirm that I have been able to successfully connect to my network via the Garmin Connect app in setting up the device, but the scale does not seem to connect to my a Wi-Fi and account. I have spent about 2 hours trying many different procedures as suggested on Garmin help and on this site. If not fixed in 48 hours, going back to Withings.

  • Was mich stutzig macht ist, dass die Waage vor dem Update auf 3.0 perfekt sowohl über meine 7530 mit MESH und die 7490 ohne MESH  funktioniert hat.

    Translation :

What makes me wonder is that before the update to 3.0, the scale worked perfectly over both my 7530 with MESH and the 7490 without MESH.

    —-

Right. So who is then responsible if it then suddenly no longer works after the Garmln update? AVM ? Wink

Ja, richtig. Also wer ist dann dafür verantwortlich, wenn es dann nach dem Garmln Update plötzlich nicht mehr funktioniert? AVM ? Wink

  • the scale does not seem to connect to my a Wi-Fi

Do you own a Fritzbox ? Did it work before the update to FW 3.0 ?

  • OK so have been trying for weeks to get the Garmin scale to work after updating. Finally at the very last attempt it worked. I genuinely was throwing it out and moving on....trying to connect to my WiFi whether it be 5 or 2.5 ghz made absolutely no difference. Security no difference. It worked using my phone as hot spot so figured out it's definitely an issue with direct connection to the router

I bought a tplink WiFi extender. That works perfectly. Don't ask me why. Is it right? Absolutely not. But it has been getting me down.  Frowning2

I hope others find this useful. It makes me realise just how close we are as a species to having no technology. We take it for granted that things work. See sometimes they just don't. I'm on the bike tomorrow...it's a manually powered bike and I'll be measuring the time by analogue watch and distance by scaling a map. Skills that won't be lost by a third party not having a clue. Human Ingenuity should never be forgotten

  • Thanks for posting!

I'm not gonna spend money to get this fixed, though.

  •  what do you expect from developers? With the new firmware, garmin bricked our device. Without wifi connection no possibility to install any type of fix.

I tried multiple routers with many settings combination, multiple phone, notebook hotspot whitout any success.
I am not think pay any kind of extra fee to fix it or replace it to new one is a acceptable/correct solution, since garmin killed the devices

  • Without wifi connection no possibility to install any type of fix.

No, that is wrong. According to the support there is a possibility. I had already mentioned that.
