After SW 3.00 - No Networks Found / Invalid Password / Blinking WiFi icon + Red X when syncing

Hello,

yesterday my index S2 upgraded to firmware 3.00.

Today I saw that:

User settings were not synced, which means that no usernames are on the scale, only empty persons with question marks.

Date and Time settings are also not synced and do not change after several measurements. (I switched to 24h in the app)

I did:

1) Factory reset

2) removed the scale from Garmin web interface and from the Garmin app

3) Re-attached the scale again via Garmin app (and yes, I of course removed indexS2 from bluetooth settings)

4) Did 2) and 3) several times

5) Tried to install the firmware again via the manual process. Did not work since 3.00 is already on the scale...

6) Deleted the WLAN connection and attached it again

7) Switched to another WLAN

4) Replaced the batteries and did 1), 2) 3), 6) again.

Nothing helped. the scale still does not show the user(s) I attached to the Garmin app and does not sync weight.

And I also noticed that after trying to sync a red X appears in the upper left corner of the scale for a short time.

Any hints?

Regards Uli

  • Temporary solution: I set up an additional WIFI Network with  an old router (Apple TimeCapsule) with 2.4Ghz and  WPA/WPA2 enabled and everything worked fine again.

I did the same with my old Apple Time Capsule and now my Index S2 works fine again! Thanks for the tip!

  • this is why i always had 2,4 and 5ghz ssids different. And the whole point on the old firmware it was working ok. So there is definitely garmins fault they dont know how to deliver propper firmware.

S2 scale is a modern scale and should work with modern hardware. The firwmare update is exacly for this - to add new features and compatiblilty. Not to cripple it.

  • Backdating is seemingly impossible and updating is also not possible at the moment, because we'd need Wi-Fi for that. Best we can hope for is a step by step guide.

  • Same issue, WPA2 network and the scale won't connect to any network except for phone hotspot (but still with use of hotspot the scale won't synchronize with the Connect app )...

I am so f... angry - I've already spent 2 hours trying to solve this to arrive at this thread.

Garmin support, we're looking forward to solving this bug!

  • Any idea when this could be solved?

  • I was able to get it working like others here. My primary home Internet is my Android cellphone hotspot. I am unable to choose the band on my phone hotspot to ONLY 2.4, it can ONLY 5 or do both 2.4 & 5, but not only 2.4.

I have another hotspot device (Verizon 5G hotspot) and was able to select the 2.4 GHz band ONLY for the network. This is good that it works but less desirable as this is not a primary source of Internet in my home.

  • I did the same, installed an older wireless router alongside my mesh network.  Reset everything and followed the install instructions  and attached it to the old network 2.4 GHz band and indeed it syncs the data for me and my wife. thanks for the work around suggestion.  I'll now wait for garmin for a fix so I can remove the old router.

  • Same issue here. I had it upload to GC once since the upgrade, but it continues to fail.

  • Mines not working either however just like others phone hotspots work.

    So far i have tried:

    -Switching 2.4ghz AX mode off
-Enabling all 2.4 bit rates down to 1
-Tried all 2.4 Ghz channels 1-13 (UK based user)

The hotspot via my phone has also been done using my home internet connection to rule out any issues where my firewall maybe blocking anything and it works all the way through with no blocks.

The odd thing is that when i add a new SSID it adds it to the Scale, however responds with incorrect password.

So for those assuming its WEP related its not..
I havent had time to take any packet captures or anything yet fi anyone has would be interesting to hear what they have found seen?
