After SW 3.00 - No Networks Found / Invalid Password / Blinking WiFi icon + Red X when syncing

Hello,

yesterday my index S2 upgraded to firmware 3.00.

Today I saw that:

User settings were not synced, which means that no usernames are on the scale, only empty persons with question marks.

Date and Time settings are also not synced and do not change after several measurements. (I switched to 24h in the app)

I did:

1) Factory reset

2) removed the scale from Garmin web interface and from the Garmin app

3) Re-attached the scale again via Garmin app (and yes, I of course removed indexS2 from bluetooth settings)

4) Did 2) and 3) several times

5) Tried to install the firmware again via the manual process. Did not work since 3.00 is already on the scale...

6) Deleted the WLAN connection and attached it again

7) Switched to another WLAN

4) Replaced the batteries and did 1), 2) 3), 6) again.

Nothing helped. the scale still does not show the user(s) I attached to the Garmin app and does not sync weight.

And I also noticed that after trying to sync a red X appears in the upper left corner of the scale for a short time.

Any hints?

Regards Uli

  • I have a Netgear Orbi with two satellites and have the same problem.  Hope there is a solution soon.  I had booked a DAX for next week, hope the scale works before then so I can calibrate it.

  • I found similar issues after the upgrade.  I tried the install many times but i had the same issues you described.  I finally decided to remove the device and reset the app and restart the install process as though it was a new install. My steps:

    1. Remove the index s2 device from the connect app. then

    2. Remove the index device from  Setting/bluetooth.

I found this must be gone.  Then I followed the video instructions to upgrade. The important thing is you must be patient to let the software install.  I found if you start resetting things, it doesnt sync properly.  something gets confused.

In the process, you then need to pair the scale like a new install. The sequence and letting things finish updating is important. At this point, make sure you finish the install of the index device.  (in the app connect device setting).  At this point your should have your S2 syncing properly.

If you have additional users, I found that they need to remove the index s2 device from their Connect.

Once you have the above finally syncing properly for yourself, then invite your user.  I found if they don't delete it from their connect, their data doesn't sync.  Once you invite, then they accept and setup their data for the index, S2 needs to sync so the scale is updated at which point the additional user will sync properly.

This work for me.  it took me a couple of days to get through it.  super frustrating to get this working but I got my data syncing.

BTW, I'm using ASUS mesh Wifi network and didn't find any issues with my wifi (except the S2 needs to be close to the router while doing all this)

    good luck all.

  • Unfortunately, no difference from the hundred resets that have already been performed.
    Unfortunately no solution.

  • No, that doesn't work either.

  • I got feedback from Garmin support.

They have already received several messages regarding the problem and the issue has been passed on to the developers.

  • I hope they stop the rollout based on those problems and wait until there is a solution to this WiFi problem before continuing the rollout.

  • I followed the upgrade instructions exactly and it didn't it. After hours of retrying I finally had to reset the scale back to factory setting and start over.  It upgraded after that. I weighed myself after the upgrade and it showed I gained 2 lbs overnight.  Very unlikely.  My body fat also increased 4.5% instantly which is even less accurate than it was before the upgrade.

@garmin this is not an improvement at all.  And nowhere can I find where to override the body fat manually with an accurate measurement.

  • Couple weeks ago, we bought the Index S2 Smart Scale. After the first setup everything worked fine.

A few days ago we noticed that the scale measurements are no longer displayed in the Connect app, because the scale no longer connects to our Wi-Fi network.

I tried to reconnect the scale to our network. However, it no longer finds any Wi-Fi network at all ( not even any of the about 10 Wi-Fi networks of our neighbors). I also tried using a guest account in the router and a hotspot on my cell phone. The scale does also not show those.

Resetting the scale did not bring any change either. Manually entering a network also doesn't work. There has also been no update or changes to the router/network settings recently.

Does anyone have any ideas what could be the cause or what I can try that the scale re-finds the Wi-Fi networks?

  • So I followed the instructions to update the software on the index S2 scale.  Since this time the scale won’t connect to any Wi-Fi network.  Anyone else having this issue ?  Only message I get is “count not connect”.  Terribly frustrating these updates create more issues and solve none

  • Same here. It states the password to the WiFi is wrong. It is not.
