Index S2 Smart Scale does Not Support Hidden Wifi SSID

I recently returned two (2) Index S2 Smart Scales for a full refund.   I was having connection and data upload issues on my home Wifi and technical support isolated the problem to a Hidden network SSID.  I keep my Wifi network Hidden (not broadcast) for security reasons.   Garmin stated that the Index S2 Smart Scale will not function on a Hidden Wifi network.

I certainly hope Garmin will eventually revise the Index S2 Smart Scale firmware or release a new version of the S2 Scale that will support hidden networks.

I'm really getting tired of manually entering my daily weigh-in to the Connect App each day.  :(

  • Probably not, watches don't do that either (at least in the past, don't know about the new ones).

Also a hidden SSID isn't that hard to find if you really want to break into other WIFI networks.

  • I have many wireless devices in my home from a multitude of manufacturers and they all function normally on my Wifi network with a hidden SSID. Only Garmin devices have a problem with a hidden Wifi SSID. Seems the issue is with Garmin.  I certainly wish I had known about this issue before I sank money into Garmin products.

Agree, if a crook really wants to hack into a Wifi network, hidden or not, it would be easy to do with determination and IT smarts. Having a hidden SSID just makes it more difficult for common folks to do so.
