RESOLVED - Garmin Index s2 scale fails to self-calibrate

Suddenly, my Index s2 can no longer self-calibrate. When I wake it up, the weight on the screen doesn't zero out and instead goes all the way to 600+ lb and then the scale shows a large white X.

I have already tried resetting the scale but that hasn't helped. Has anyone else had this issue?

I utterly disappointed with Index s2. The body fat measurement has never worked correctly (being wildly off) and I ended up using s2 pretty much as a dumb scale connected to my account. And now even that no longer works.

  • Update: I managed to fix this issue by taking batteries out for a long time. I waited a day. Next day when I inserted batteries the scale successfully self-calibrated to zero. I didn't even need to run the setup again.

I should mention that taking the batteries out for a short time wasn't sufficient.

  • I’m having the exact same issue, I’ve done the hard reset and pulled the batteries for a few seconds and issue persists. Will remove the batteries and leave till tomorrow and try again.

  • There is a certain procedure for calibration: tap a sleeping scale but do not stand on it, let it goes sleep again and tap again. On the second tap the scale will show hourglass that is indication of an ongoing calibration. Wait until it disappears and then scale is calibrated and ready to use normally.
