Index S2 - no weather data shown

Do you have any ideas how to show weather data again? The widget is shown but no numbers. Scale is connected to Wifi and the Garmin App on my phone. Garmin App has all access rights including location.

  • Same here - I am not getting the weather or extra data any more.  I have only had the scale for ten months.

  • Brand new scale NO weather data…. Very disappointing

  • Amazing how many with the problem and Garmin does nothing...  Great PRoducts with TERRIBLE support...
They point me to an article to enable localization on my cell phone (already done)...  nothing changes...

  • I wouldn't call the S2 a great product. Let's call it a product. Smile

  • This is interesting because I’m pretty sure weather was showing before I updated Garmin Connect to 4.53.1.2. I had to update GC yesterday because the app was immediately crashing when I selected workouts in the menu. Anyways there’s a thread that was started recently advising users to update the app to fix the problem. I wondering if there’s a connection here.

  • Dear Garmin, If the weather does not work - Disable it .. Don't sell product with broken or over-dependent features.

That said, I am going to chime in as a bit of a contrarian .. I don't care about wether on my scale - at all. I disabled the widget in Connect, as have others... None of the weather correction guidance offered by Garmin is useful, period.

What frustrates me is how horribly inaccurate this scale is at EVERYTHING ELSE. Seriously, I had a replacement S2 from Garmin since my Index was stuck at 7%. This scale is the opposite and reads me at almost 2x my actual %/PFB (per recent DEXA), and everything else is off proportionally. I've done all workaround, BDay adjustment, maxed out the Activity level - and tried other settings for comparison.

Basic functions - like initialization and weight measurement - vary with consecutive readings. The old Index was an easy tap to wake, the S2 seems more stubborn, not as responsive. Everything hinges on a Garmin algorithm that seems to be fundamentally flawed.

The bottom line is that the S2 I have is inaccurate at best - maybe closer to garbage, an expensive paperweight - regardless of the weather widget functionality. I/We need the scale to be accurate, and there should be accommodations for individuals who know their body composition well enough to perform an advanced calibration so the scale can be useful, since right now its not for me, at all.

please take this post seriously. I have a number of current comparisons to offer, willing to share. I have engaged support, opened cases, this whole thread, weather or no weather, is getting us nowhere fast - Thank You!

(and sorry to the non-Garmin forum Users for the 'cross-post' .. I'm aware of the various threads for all of the other issues - My point is that there are many fundamental issues with this scale)

  • I wonder what percent of users are having this problem as it’s still working ok for me.

My GCM is 4.53 on Android, but the weather location should ne determined by the WAN IP address of your internet connection, not any location settings in the mobile account.

  • The educated guess is that most Users are experiencing this. The ones who are not communicating it probably do not care, are not aware of the proper channels, or simply do not have the time to report the issue.

  • Hello all.  We have reports of this and are currently investigating these reports.  When we know any more, I will be sure to update this thread.

  • Hello,

I have been noticing for sometime now that the weather at the end of weighing is no longer being provided.  Would really love it to be restored since it is a nice item to assist in getting ready for the day.
