Scale Finally Updated to 2.12 - My Experience

Hey all,

After a couple weeks of repeating trying everything (force firmware update using battery insert + reset button hold, forgetting the device on everything, resetting my caches, wifi network, pairing / unpairing), it finally updated.

Not sure Garmin updated something or I just finally figured out the sequence. I haven't been able to pair my scale for a few weeks, so this feels good and I hope it may be helpful or encouraging to someone.

This is exactly what I did and saw:

1. Took all of the batteries out for a few minutes.

2. Forced firmware update (insert battery + hold reset).

3. Gear icon, then went blank. Hmm.

4. Turned on scale, tried pair mode (hit reset). It thought about it for a second, powered off mysteriously.

5. Tapped scale on, displaying 0.0lb. I figured it didn't work per usual, so stepped on the scale to at least get my weight today. It gave me wifi icon, weight, no profile, but THE WEATHER!! (back to paired again, finally).

6. Stepped off and on again, it now had full sync to my profile and settings and logged my weight on my phone. Okay.

7. Still showed 2.08 in Connect, so I entered pair mode again and tested wifi from phone. It now started downloading the update, finally (blue bar at bottom).

8. I kept tapping the scale to keep it awake, never lost any progress (not sure if it downloads while off) despite it turning off repeatedly. It filled the bar twice, before briefly showing the green check mark upper left. Promising.

9. It powered back on, displaying the hourglass momentarily (uh oh, I thought), and then the standard weight. I tested wifi again, the scale says I'm not set up fully in Connect, but Connect Desktop says it's now 2.12 and it syncs with phone despite "not being set up".

Okay. The scale claims it's up to date and it syncs to my phone. Nice. I earned my smoothie today. It would be great if someone from Garmin could post a sensible version of the update process (someone definitely knows and can spell it out far better than this, otherwise I am interested in remote work if the company could use a hand...).
