Index S2 Smart Scale: Pairing Failed

I’ve just received my Index S2 Smart Scales and the Garmin Connect App goes through the process of connecting however never actually makes the connection and come up with Pairing Failed - Retry. I’ve got 2 watches successfully paired with Garmin Connect and I’ve rest the scales and the app countless times?…

  • I don't know if the cause of my problem is exactly the same, but I also have had te problem of the scale not pairing with garmin connect. I have tried every suggested solution and then some:

    - Tried it with an iphone, ipad, 2 brands of android phones. ==> no luck.
    - Installed old versions of garmin connect ==> no luck
    - Restarten/resetted phones, removed bluetooth caches, etc. ==> no luck.
    - Bought an ANT+ USB to connect to garmin express on the laptop. ==> Didn't work. I got the notice that the garmin connectservers were online and that the device was found( with name index S2), but nog recognised als the scale.

So now, if this happens to you, I am pretty sure you will just have to send it back for a replacement.

(or the garmin servers are ofline for a week, and I know they are not).

  • Any update on this issue??? I've got mine and the same problem for days already??? Thanks

  • I got my scale yesterday and continue to get the Pairing Failed error message. I've tried all the suggestions on this thread with no luck. Has anyone been able to resolve this, or did you all take it back?

  • For me it just worked after a few days. I suspect the eame hapened for many of the orher posters here.

  • Same here, we tried 2 brand new in Garmin store, both me and the sales man could not get paired…

  • Just received the scale. Pairing failed with my Xiaomi phone multiple times. Then tried it with my old Samsung S6 phone and it just worked! Attention: You need to pair it from within the Garmin Connect app.

  • I had this problem in the beginning, but then I followed the Garmin's guide here - https://support.garmin.com/en-US/?faq=MUAAW8EQWv0vbQHFMP29x7

I paired successfully when I just restarted my phone and the scale and only then run Garmin Connect App.

  • Android, Index S2 smart scale "pairing failed" - turned off Bluetooth, then Connect App wanted to turn bluetooth back on, and then the next time i tried to sync the pairing code number finally appeared.

  • Instead of fixing the issue (or providing a simple fix) Garmin product users have to battery in / out, push reset buttons stand on your head for 2 minutes then phone a friend and ask if you can connect to their Wifi to get a software update...
None of it works they £100 piece of rubbish still cant connect and is a glorified paperweight. Don't waste your time and money on this rubbish

  • Had the same problem, more or less.

    1. Ran the update.
    2. Got a message about wi-fi needing to be enabled.
    3. Followed instructions.
    4. Failure.  It wouldn't see any networks and I knew I had 2.4Ghz enabled.

I then did the old tried and true, uninstalled the Garmin Connect IOS app.  Low and behold, the reinstall worked.
