I'd never had the sound turned on on my Edge 1000, but I thought it would be a good idea to do so when I got my Varia Radar so I got an audible alert of an approaching vehicle in case I wasn't looking at the Edge.
Unfortunately, I've now realised why I didn't have the sound turned on in the past. As all my rides are following courses, my Edge is forever beeping at me multiple times for upcoming junctions etc, which can be an annoyance on rural routes but if I end up routing through a built up area the locals must think I'm trying to kidnap R2D2. Plus after a while my brain starts to just switch off to the beeps which negates the purpose of having the sound on at all (yes, I appreciate the beeps are different depending on what they're for)
It would be great if we could have the option to select which events we want an audible warning for, so I could only have the unit beep when the Varia radar triggered it, and not for every corner.
