Cannot Pair Varia RCT715 with Edge 1040 (but connects to Varia App)

Hi everyone,

I’m having trouble pairing my Garmin Varia RCT715 with my Edge 1040.

The Varia connects perfectly to the Garmin Varia App on my iPhone via Bluetooth — I can access the camera and settings without any issues.
However, when I try to pair it with my Edge 1040, the device doesn’t appear in the sensor list at all.

Here’s what I’ve already tried:

  1. Updated firmware on both devices using Garmin Connect.

  2. Turned off Bluetooth on my phone before trying to pair with the Edge (to avoid conflicts).

  3. Put the Varia in pairing mode (Blue LED flashing).

  4. Searched for new sensors on the Edge (“Add Sensor” → “Search All”).

  5. Rebooted both devices multiple times.

Still, the Edge doesn’t detect the Varia — not even as a radar or light sensor.

Is there any known issue or additional step I might be missing?
Do I need to perform a reset on the Varia before pairing it with the Edge?
