Alerts for the varia are inconsistent across devices.
1. When using a varia paired with a android phone and varia app it consistently loses Bluetooth connection if the phone screen sleeps or if the app is not running in the foreground.
Within a minute of the varia app going to the background it looses Bluetooth connection. I've already confirmed that all relevant permissions are given to the app along with disabling any power savings restrictions for background processes.
I suspect the varia app isn't asking for the correct permission to allow for background Bluetooth connection therefore android sleeps the connection and no more alerts are played.
Garmin really needs to fix this.
2. When a varia is paired with a edge all alerts should be broadcast from the edge device in the same method as navigation alerts. I don't really understand why it's not already done this way?
There should be no reason to require a phone device (and varia app) to transmit those to alerts Bluetooth headphones when you're already receiving audio prompts from the edge device.
Just wanting some feedback from the wider community that their encountering the same issues and hope this could bring some awareness to the shortcomings of alerts from varia devices.
Hopefully Garmin can make these huge quality of life improvements to their ecosystem.
Cheers,
