Why do I need a light network with only a Garmin Varia 515 and how do you get it loud enough to hear the alert?

What is the point of a light network when I have one Garmin light - varia 515 radar? It seems I can just turn it on rather than have more communication and battery drain with the light network. Is there any way to make the sound hearable with an Edge 830

I agree. I don't use any of the apps for thr radar. I prefer not to have to keep looking at a device for info. I also don't think the sound is loud enough. That said, I'm a long=time motorcycle guy and I really like having a mirror on both the left and rigtht. It's just natural habit, i guess. Unless I plan to be in heavy traffic I don't even turn it on anymore.

It lets you control the mode of the light. Go into sensors and select “lights.” You can then change the mode to”automatic.” This will adjust the light intensity and pattern automatically between blinking and solid depending on light conditions and maximizes the battery life.
