Varia for skiing

I couldn't find a similar post, so I ask directly: Has anyone tried the varia (315 would suffice) for skiing?

The "situation" on a ski slope is way more complex than on a road, but that's a good reason why such a device would be very useful on ski slopes which are getting more and more dangerous and crowded.

Thanks for any reply that could clarify this matter.

  • It will work. It is triggered by people walking up to you from behind and also fellow cyclists. It should detect other skiers also as along as it is perpendicular to the slope.
I can’t see how it should warn you sufficient but it will blind everybody behind you if you take a 515.

  • Thanks for your reply BeneGi. It's worth a try, I think. I thought about the 315 because it's smaller and the light seems to be quite useless while skiing. But, on 2nd thought, anything that'll make you stand out and catch attention could be good. Ski slopes are, in my opinion, very dangerous today: lots of mediocre skiers that don't know how to handle speed but love going fast. We see the same thing on cars and motorcycles, but there you have police that, sometimes, makes the idiots pay. On ski slopes there's nobody patrolling and you have all kinds of imbeciles allowed to drink and then ski or simply to exceed the speed that common sense should dictate. Hence the idea of something like an "idiot warning system"...
