Has anybody had any experience with the new RTL 515 firmware 3.36?

I see today that my Varia RTL515 received a new firmware, version 3.36. Does anybody have any information on what has changed and experience with it?

With firmware 3.36, default behaviour of the Varia 515 is unchanged - the device will flash when an approaching vehicle is detected in any of the light modes (Low, Peloton, Day Flash, Night Flash).

Is this being implemented due to the recent law changes in France regarding flashing rear lights?

Yes, that's right. And it's raising a lot of questions in France, because the majority of cyclists are opposed to this new regulation and want to keep the “flash mode” when a vehicle is approaching, even if it means risking an €11 fine.

Already delete the sensor, but then the device is not able to add the sensor anymore, because it is not showing up in the listed items (keeps on searching)

After several search attempts in the end the radar popped up and managed to add the sensor (radar&light)

lightnetwork is visible, also tested having switch off and on again.

The announcement says that the flashing can be disabled "using the Varia Mobile App".

I have updated my RTL515 to v3.36, but the Android Varia Mobile App from Google Play Store is v3.2.0 (from 2024) and when the radar is connected to the telephone I cannot find an option to enable/disable flashing.

Is an update to the Varia Mobile App required and planned?

Oh, thanks! I am using a 3rd party app for this since two years or so and also for making the radar flash only if a vehicle is detected. Saves a lot of battery time. Should be a factory setting as well!
