Varia RTL515 disconnects with Edge 510 when light mode is off

I have a behavior that seems wrong when using my Varia RTL515 with my Edge 510. When using it during daytime, I would prefer to have the light mode off so it only lights up if triggered due to radar alert but it is otherwise off. But when I toggle through the light modes with the button on the Varia until the light is off, the Edge 510 will alert that radar has been disconnected. It will reconnect and work normally in any other light mode where the light is on. Is this normal? Smart Bike Lights ConnectIQ app doesn't work with the old 510. Thanks.

    Nevermind, I see in the manual that this is the intended behavior. Manual says when light is in standby mode (device on but light setting off) then it will NOT detect vehicles.
