RTL515 Firmware 3.34 // GE Dialogue // Further Details

The Varia units aren't part of the beta group that I'd typically raise a query/suggestion in, so here's the next best option.

Regarding the latest update to 3.34, there is still no post here indicating the update exists or exactly what it does. I also noted within Garmin Express there were two firmwares pushed to the unit I had which was already on 3.32. 

As usual, I'll flag a request for more information being posted here.... Along with a request for clarification if the screenshot below is normal (two firmwares?)

    Thanks for the heads up and apologies we didn't get a post up about the Varia software release. The screenshot you have here is indeed normal. The change log listed is pointing to our efforts to improve radar functions when in larger groups and reduce timeout errors.

    Hi, after posting the "New firmware update for RTL515 V:3.34", today I had an update for the same 3.34 timeout errors on my Edge 1030+ unit for the RTL515, on Garmin Express app. Here, in Montreal, it's winter...so I can not try it outside, but it connected well inside, for light & radar.

    @Garmin-Shawn I see almost the same thing as @GPLama in Garmin Express but the file sizes are a little different - 451.26 KB and 204.13 KB. The very last release note about radar channel management is also missing. I would share a screenshot, but I haven't figured out how to do that here.

    That's not the main reason I'm posting though. Is "Device Software" and "Varia RTL515 Radar" the same component, or is each unique with its own stack of releases?

    The reason I ask is that if I go to Varia RTL515 > Tools & Content > Info, the Software Version shown there is 3.32. Same as what GPLama said he had. Why would I want to install 3.27 when I already have 3.32, and then also go to 3.34?
    (I think I already know the answer, but a confirmation from Garmin would help others wondering the same thing - thanks!)

    The RTL has two software components. A radar component and a light component. Both components get installed.

    The radar is going to 3.34, the light appears to be going to 3.27. Normally the version of the light component is hidden behind the radar version.

    Does the RTL516 get the same update(s)? Will the RVR315 and/or the RCT715 get similar updates? 

    I checked a RVR315 here and there were no updates.

    The RTL516 did get the same update as the RTL515.

    The other units you mentioned did not get an update at this time. I have no visibility into whether they need the same update or if it is planned.

    Following the recently installed update 3.34 on my Varia the unit has taken on some undesirable characteristics. Now, when getting ready for a ride I select my desired light mode on the Varia. Then, when I hit "start" on my Edge unit, the Varia changes the mode selection with no input from me. I then have to stop and manually reset the Varia to my desired setting. It never did this before the software date, always kept my selected mode.

    To be honest, I have tried several times to install the 3.27 firmware. Installation routine is running but afterwards the firmware version 3.27 ist still available for install. 3.34 was installed successfully. Any suggestions?
