My Garmin Edge 1040 will not boot when the Varia RTC715 is on

Mine is doing this as well. Any resolution?

Same thing here. extremely frustrating. Tried to update the varia using direct usb conenction to garmin express from desktop, then thru garmin  varia app on iphone. reformatted sd card, deleted all files in DCIM on the varia. tried everything. the varia is useless now.

What Edge software release are you on?

Edge is ver 19.22 while the varia shows ver 5.1 when connected to garmin connect on a desktop but when i use the varia app on iphone, it shows ver 4.40 and that there is an update available. when i try to update, it fails.

See if you can update the RCT using Garmin Express

The V4.00 is the version of the phone app I think and not the RCT. 

yup, tried that, goes thru all the steps and when it says to disconnect from computer and power off then power it on, leds blink as explained, but then it never takes the update.
