Bluetooth disconnects from android app

Every ride, around the 20 minute mark, the Garmin Varia Android app loses its Bluetooth connection. I have to stop and restart the app. The app has unrestricted use of the battery so I don't think it's a phone issue. It's really annoying - any ideas why it does this? FWIW, I have the latest version of the app (v 3.0.1).

Same it used to stay connector hours, but the last few weeks it's dropping after 15 to 20 mins. Pixel 7 pro, android 13, have all limiting disabled for the varia app. BT earphones stayed connected for 4hrs straight yesterday.
