Brand New 540 fault / issues with Varia

I purchased the new 540 (non solar) on Monday 3/7/23 having had a 520 for a few years.  I had nothing but trouble with the Varia connection for the last 2 days - Even when I disabled it it was still coming up 'disconnected from wi fi' and this error message was locked on the bottom of my screen to the point i couldn't even get off the screen I was on or save my short ride.  I ended up trying everything to get rid of it and eventually put the light away in another room and disabled the light section on the head unit.  So here I am with a brand new 540 and having to use a 'dumb' rear light so I can use the 540 without the fault locking the system altogether.  I looked in the forums and there seems to be similar but not identical issues with Varia hence my posting.   I rang the shop today and am hoping they can speak to a rep to sort it but it looks a l lot like a software bug.  I have never had any issues with my varia on the 520 in the last 3 years with constant and daily use  - not ever so this is really frustrating and annoying. Has anyone any ideas?  I have done a factory reset, I have disabled / re enabled / updated software and performed diagnostic on the Varias etc (I have two) to no avail.  i am thinking of returning this 540 and staying with my 520 if I cant get a reasonable response soon.  These are the basics we are talking about and a safety issue and something is very wrong as this is out of the box.
