Varia disabled in specific sport profiles

Is there a way to let an Edge 530 know that it should only be looking for a Varia radar in specific sport profiles? 

I am using the Varia only for road cycling, but not when mountainbiking. The icon in the upper right corner indicating that the edge is looking for the varia is kind of annoying.

    Years back, e.g. on my Edge800, it was possible to have bike-related profiles. With specific sensors for each bike. In those devices that would have been possible. 

    Nowadays, Garmin prefers the dedicated profiles with no possibility to assign dedicated bikes, sensors, unfortunately. 

    I've seen numerous requests to allow such feature but no real reaction from Garmin on it.

    My Edge 530 doesn't behave this way, I don't see the radar icon on top right of Edge screen in any of my profiles if the Varia is not on or turned on at Edge startup.  In any of the profiles.
