Varia light won't stay on

My Varia connects with my Garmin Edge 1030+ and the radar works fine but the light turns itself off after 2-3 min. I also can not change the light mode from the Edge. I have updated the software for both and reset multiple times. Any suggestions?

Because your edge is receiving only broadcasted data from radar, it is not paired correctly. Just remove it from edge, switch the varia radar to pairing mode (hold down power button until it starts flashing) and pair it with your edge.

Why it is so? It is simple - pairing is needed as only one device can wake-up that device, control lights,... but any device can receive broadcasted radar data via ant+. It is useful while riding in a group, last person has radar on his bike and anybody in that group can see/hear approaching vehicles. And you get notified when lose him :D
