Need the ability to turn off radar sounds quickly.

I live in an urban environment, I have to cycle through 45 minutes of city to get to a road before I need to care about knowing if cars are behind me. In the city, I assume there is always a car behind me and the beeping every minute if more of an annoyance than a benefit.

I'd like to be able to quickly turn on/off the radar sounds so when I get out of the city I can turn them on quickly. Right now I just leave them off all the time which means looking at the computer more often and not really getting the benefit of the Varia.

I tried doing this with profiles, but sensor settings cannot be specific to a profile.

  • That's a great idea

  • As another suggestion, I would like to disable the Varia Radar for certain locations (e.g. draw a map around San Francisco) and the Varia radar is disabled within that location.

  • regarding a feature to quickly enable/disable radar sounds

can connect IQ apps add to the widgets menus ? ... like the calibrate power meter widget option that can be got when swiping down from the top of the screen on the edge 1040

  • @Garmin-Maeve what is required to get this request priority and get a feature implemented through the widget menu to disable and enable radar sounds????. (for example when I'm on a road parallel to a motorway the Garmin is beeping all the time with false positives, annoying me and every other cyclist in the group) Disabling sounds through 10+ interactions with the garmin while moving or having to stop to do these 10+ interactions is not an acceptable solution for the X40 top of the range Garmin edge devices.

  • +1 for this. Can't believe it isn't implemented yet. I had a Hammerhead Karoo 2 for a while and used the Garmin radar with it. I could just swipe the screen down and push a button to mute the radar. Very easy and can't imagine this is difficult to implement. Please Garmin!

  • Radar settings are part of the head unit software. so it must be implemented per head unit model.
    Correct me, if I'm wrong
It's just too much work. Garmin won't be doing it

  • I'm not sure what you mean by that, but all they have to do is extend their widget with a button to mute the radar. All in all this can't be much work. I might even dive into the code and create the widget for everyone to download from Connect. Who knows...
