How to get Varia 515 buzz alert with iPhone in jersey pocket?

The audio alerts from my Edge 1030 are useless at speed.  So, is there a way to get the Varia 515 to produce vibration alerts on the iPhone (Varia app or Garmin Connect app?) with the phone in my jersey pocket?  A quick vibe would be the perfect way to get the vehicle approaching alerts.

    Look in the settings of the Varia app.  There should be an option to turn the vibration alerts on.

    I already did that... but it didn't work with the phone asleep in my pocket.  If one has to have the app up and running on screen that defeats the purpose.

    You may be able to set iPhone power settings for each app.  I don't have an iPhone, but if you dig around in the settings you might find something.

    On Android phones it's Settings>Apps & notifications->Varia->Advanced->Battery->Background restrictions.  The iPhone may have something similar.

    I would think Bluetooth and running in background would be the settings to look at.
