RTL515 and Edge 530: Turn off light/radar during coffee stop and reconnect?

When I stop for a coffee, I let my Edge 530 auto-pause, but the RTL515 radar and tail light stays on, with the Edge 530 beeping every time it picks up approaching movement towards the back of my parked bike.  If I turn off the RTL515 by holding down the button and then turn it back on when I start riding again, the radar reconnects, but the light network doesn't, showing "Light Network Disconnected" on the Edge 530 for the remainder of the ride.

I would appreciate recommended ways of stopping the RTL515 from using battery and beeping while the bike is parked for a coffee stop.

  • On the Edge 530 - go to Settings -> Sensors and turn off radar (this will also turn off the light)

  • Im using a RTL510 with my 830, so maybe it is a bit different.
i set my light Network to light up when I start an activity. When at a coffee stop, i put the Garmin into Pause (not shure if Auto Pause is enough, but the additional button press isn’t killing me) and the to sleep (power button and then chips sleep). As soon as the Edge goes to sleep, the Varia will turn the light off. When I wake up the Garmin the Varia will start to work again immediately.

  • This is what I do on the 530 - just press the sleep/power button. Be warned though, with the latest firmware (>9.30), the sensors do not always reconnect after a sleep. If this happens you can power cycle the unit and it usually fixes the issue (your ride does not get lost)

  • I don’t have problems with sensor connections not waking up, for me it’s the opposite.
my Core body temperature sensors only works after I did a pause in an activity and sleep the Edge.
