RVR315 Radar: “sensor error radar OFC”

I just bought a Varia Radar RVR315 to replace my aging 1st gen Varia Radar light. On my ride today my Garmin 1030 displayed the message “sensor error radar OFC” numerous times. I’ve never had this issue before and a Google search reveals nothing.

Can someone tell me what is going on? I just bought this on Amazon during the April sale but if I cannot resolve this soon I’m sending it back, and sticking with my 1st gen unit for now: it’s battery life isn’t great but at least it works without annoying error messages.

Garmin likes to displays useless warnings and broke normal usage of edge since last FW :-(

I don't use it anymore. I have a RCT715 for about the last year, and see the error rarely.

Thank you. I wonder if there’s a way to disable that message displaying on the screen all the time. My old one doesn’t do that, and it’s unnecessarily obnoxious.

I didn't get the error at all yesterday. The difference is I was riding solo. The prior day where I kept getting the error, I was riding with a friend. Maybe the error is when he is directly behind me? I don't know, but I don't need the error message blocking my Garmin display and forcing me to manually dismiss. UX fail on Garmin's part.

Are you still seeing those errors, and if so, have you been able to figure out what is triggering them?

I have the Varia and the OCF error keeps appearing throughout my ride. I called Garmin. They know about the issue. They are sending me a new unit!
