UT800 level screw torque

What is the maximum safe torque that can be applied to the screw that fixes the UT800 direction/level?

Since the device is pretty heavy and the fix-point is at one end, road vibrations have a tendency to make it sag. The manual says to tighten it from time to time but it doesn't mention max torque(?) and I don't want to break something by over-tightening

thanks in advance,

  Nik

  • Hi Nik

I've experienced the same slippage issue. I tried to add carbon paste to increase friction but it didn't help.

Then I tried to put some blue loctite thread lock on all contact surfaces and this time it worked.

Since then I switched to a Bontrager Ion Pro RT which is even heavier and it worked perfectly ahain.

  • Cool, thanks for the tip. Tried to get Garmin support to give me a Nm-value but they evaded the answer, just saying to "make it tight and tighten when needed". I'm sure once you break it they go "not that much, though"
