Varia RTL 515 tones not heard

In November I purchased 2 Varia RTL 515 radar units to use with my Edge 1030.  Neither my wife nor I can hear the alert tones (others do)  when a vehicle comes up behind us.   Not being able to hear the tone just about make the units completely useless.  Is there any hope for a fix?

    Open Sensors, then your radar and check notification settings - with triple beep is Edge1030+ beeping like crazy Smiley

    Opened sensors, radar, sensor details, alert settings, tones:  options are off,, single tone, or multi tone.  With single tone or multi tone either, I can hear a faint beep only if I hold the unit right next to my ear.

    I have also experienced same issue. Tried multiple procedures and even contacted Garmin and they were baffled. I use the Varia app on my I-Phone and get loud beeps every time a car approaches. You have good control over the sound level as well. I can hear beeps in high winds. The Varia 515 works great with the Varia app through a blue tooth connection.

    I had Edge 1030 and switched to Edge 1030+ and buzzer is a bit louder (maybe too loud and I needed to stick a tape over it :D), but previously I had no issue with it. So if the opening is not full of dirt then it could be a HW issue, or you are deaf, or as somebody mentioned earlier on this forum some people have a problem hearing high pitch sounds. Maybe this could be the case...

    Yes, it's the pitch.  A frequency I can no longer hear.

    Hollis, I have the same problem.  I can not hear the tones with or without my hearing aids.  In fact, I've NEVER heard the tones despite those around me can.  Yesterday, I paired the Varia to my iphone with the Varia app and can hear the sounds if i am riding slow.  The tones on the Varia app are very annoying, by the way.
