Please add "Ultimate battery mode - Blink only when vehicle detected" mode to Varia RTL510

I have suggested similar for the Varia RTL 515 but never received any word if the suggestion was going to be neglected or that the idea that the RTL 515 should only blink when a vehicle is detected was a good idea.
IMHO it would add important extra battery life but I am not sure that Garmin agrees to that.

Check out this CIQ data field. I use it on my edge 1030/ RTL510 & it can be configured to do exactly what you are looking for. It's how I use it & works perfectly with the configuration below. Battery life depends on the number of detections but I reckon it gives me at least double

In the 'Smart' mode the light will flash as 'Day Flash' when a vehicle is detected & be off otherwise. The Radar works all the time to provide the detection. You can also switch it to Manual or Normal (Garmin) default mode by taping on the data field

Now my tail light only blinks (in 'smart mode') when a vehicle approaches and otherwise the light is off.

I don't really like my lights to be managed automatically because each ride is different and sometimes you want to save energy for later, but I may try customizing my very own automatic mode just for kicks. The online configurator is an amazing idea !

But your link helped me discover the "Bike Lights Control" widget, which offers all the control and info I needed for my bike lights.
