Varia Radar causes speed reading to change.

When I use my Varia RTL511 with my Edge 1030 and a car approaches from behind, I get all the usual data showing on the screen but my bike speed drops right off. Initially I though it might be showing me closing speed, but that does not seem correct. Has anybody else experienced this? Example - I am travelling at 30kmh, a car approached and the speed display drops to 6kph.

It has to do at which side of your Edge 1030 the blue bar with the white balls that indicate approaching traffic is positioned.

From your observation, I assume that that bar is positioned on the left side of the screen.

What I noticed is that the bar with the balls that indicate approaching traffic covers the very left side of the display. Thus, when I ride e.g. 30 km and a car comes up, I see a speed of 0 km because the ‘3’ is covered by the bar with the balls.

I was also initially very confused but when I found the cause, I relocated the bar with the balls that indicate approaching traffic to the right side of the screen (radar sensor setting). This has solved for me the issue.

What Garmin should do is to make the bar with the balls that indicate approaching traffic 'transparent' then we have never a problem.
