High I-Phone Battery Usage using Varia App

My I-Phone uses excessive battery using Varia app with Edge 830 for car alert tones while riding. Yesterday it used about 70% on a 2 hour ride. Any one else noticing this issue. When not using Varia app batery usage normal.
