Varia looses car after a period of time

1st ride with Varia and had an observation -

The Varia would detect a car , however sometimes , if the car was behind for a minute or two, the car would drop off the radar , despite being still behind me.

Is this normal ?

It has to, otherwise it would constantly alert when you were standing still that there was a parked car behind you.

Yes. The radar depends in some change in distance to determine that the vehicle is still there.

The device warns of vehicles approaching you, i.e. things that are getting closer. If a car / bike / friend maintains the same distance behind you, it does not alert.

Whilst this can catch you out (and it has me), you just have to remember that this device is an aid and does not replace your responsibility for road awareness.

I love mine, wouldn't be without it, but I have to remind myself not to rely on it 100%.
