Fenix 5x vibrate while using edge

For a loooong time I've been hoping that my fenix would vibrate while using my varia and edge.

Out of the blue, it happened last week.  The fenix was in her broadcast mode, and the edge was recording the ride.

Along with vibrate, it gave a notification on the fenix.

Then as quickly as it came, it left.  Only happened that one time during the ride.

Without the edge in the equation it alerts and vibrates.  But I want to use my edge.

What am I missing?

    The radar can connect to multiple devices at the same time via ANT+ ... so as long as your watch is connected, it should work.

    You may need to have the watch in an activity in order for it to connect.

    Yes ...works great if I'm using my F5 with varia and no edge.  

    I 100% did not have an activity going when I got the vibrate.  HR broadcast only.

    Would like to avoid both devices recording activities.

    In order to ensure that my Vivoactive 4 records activity minutes, I always start a cardio activity .. .but discard it when I'm done. You might be able to do a custom activity that just connects to the radar and discard it when done.  

    Just a thought.
