Rvr315 with bluetooth version LED display?

Visually impaired bicyclist needing?

Hello, i've been aware of the Varia radar units for several years now, but what I need is a display that offers good contrast and stands out, which I can't do with the standard Garman computers.  The car track is too small and does not offer enough contrast on the computers to be usable by me. And now that you've come out with the radar unit without the light on it I can't use the other display that relies on bright LEDs to accomplish what I need.  No most people are going to probably use the edge computers, but I would be really grateful if Garmin came out with a Bluetooth version of that display hat with the LEDs on it that could be hooked up to the 315 radar unit.  I know Garmin has set up the new Bluetooth units to work with smart phones, but even on the brightest display setting, I'd never be able to see the display except on the darkest days or at night.  But when I've seen that LED display unit in YouTube videos it looks very bright and it looks like it has good contrast. But when I've seen that LED display unit in YouTube videos it looks very bright and it looks like it has good contrast.
Thanks Gene

  • It appears that the LED display that you are referring to, which is the Radar Display Unit, is still available.  Although the RVR315 and RTL515 have Bluetooth they still have ANT+ as well.  They use ANT+ to talk to the Edge computers and to the RDU.  Bluetooth was added solely for the smartphone capability.  Garmin’s website shows the RVR315 and the RDU as being compatible with each other.
