Help me understand the RTL510 brightness modes

I have a Varia RTL510 taillight and I can't seem to figure out how the flash modes work. 

When I first turn on the light by holding down the power button, it is in a solid brightness mode. By short- pressing the power button, it cycles through the brightness modes:  from solid, to dim-bright-dim-bright pattern, to flashing pattern.

I set mine to the flashing pattern and take off on my ride.  But every time I finish my ride and go to turn off the light, it is in the dim-bright-dim-bright pattern.  Does this happen to anyone else?  How do I get it to stay on the flashing pattern?

    If you go to the light setting on the head unit, you can select the light mode on there.

    So selecting the light mode directly on the light has no effect?

    I found the same as you, regardless of what i started the ride with, by the end it would be something different, until i changed it on my Edge 820 and it stays on the correct setting.

    I tried changing the light setting on my Edge 830, but no matter what I change it to, the setting stays "OFF."  Here's a link to a video I took of me trying every setting; notice that it stays set to "OFF."

    That is strange, I’ve attached a video of my settings for the 820, are both your devices up to date with the latest firmware? 

    you could try to delete the sensor and add it again to see if that makes a difference?
