Since there is no hole on the Varia RTL 510 Radar unit to fit a tether I am wondering if I can use a self-adhesive tether to secure it.
Will a sticker hinder the radar functionality of the unit in any way ?
Or, is there a preferable place to stick the tether were it will not affect the radar capabilities (on the back, Side or Front) ?

This is what I use with mine (sorry for the terrible photo).
It's just a phone/tablet thumb holder, stuck to the back of the Varia (using the adhesive pad from the holder, you could glue it).

You might consider this option a tether for camera lens cover with 3M stick on.
You might try the safety tether from Bup Labs https://buplabs.com/products/safety-tether. They also have several products for mounting the Varia if the Garmin Seatpost mount does not work for you.

As well as the clasp (the type you get with ID badges), which hooks through the loop of the holder. I attach the ring of the clasp with a zip tie to my seat rail.
I does work. It has saved my Varia failing off about 5 times during my rides over bumpy ground.
