Hearing impaired Varia radar users should switch to Wahoo

The beep when a car a vehicle is detected with Garmin Varia radar paired to my Wahoo Elemnt Bolt is very loud. Using my 1030 Edge, I cannot hear tthe beeps unless I'm cycling very slow and no wind, but with the Wahoo, I can hear the beep no matter how fast I'm cycling.  The Wahoo also has a very distinctive three beep sound for fast approaching vehicles, which to me sounds like: giddy up - giddy up - giddy up.

  • Interesting... I have the 830 and it is very loud for me. I get the single "deedle" alert for normal traffic and a faster "deedle deedle deedle" for faster approaching vehicles

830 is new hardware which might explain how loud it is.  Would be good to compare the radar beep sound volume of the 1030 vs 830.  My 1030 doesn't deedle, or deedle deedle deedle, but the Wahoo does. In any case, excellent sound volume on the Wahoo, and apparently on the 830.

I have a Garmin 510 and the Varia tone is almost inaudible. If it’s windy it’s super easy to miss. One would thing the tone would go through my phone via the Connect app.

  • I think is depend on what mount you are using.  On my Edge 1000 the speaker output is builtin into the mount.

Can you send me a link to that mound? I am not seeing anything with an integrated speaker output
