Varia Vision - Blank white screen

Hey together,

hope someone may help me out. I got my Varia Vision last year and it worked perfectly well with my Edge 1000. So tomorrow I want to go on my first outdoor ride after the winter and I checked my equipement.
When I switch the Varia Vision on it just shows me a blank white screen. It pairs with the Edge but it doesn't show anything but a white screen.
I tried to reset it (Switch it on, wait 5 seconds und than hold the switch until it vibrates two times ...) but nothing. I connected it to my computer and updated it via Garmin Express. But still the same ... I have no clue what it is. Has anyone an idea? I would be very sad if it's broken.
  • Check the screen configuration on the Edge under the sensor details for the HMD (Vision). If that does not work try deleting the existing configuration of the Edge so that it rebuilds it. Using a PC delete the cfg file from the Garmin\HMD folder.

    Thanks, but that didn't work out. I get his white screen from the beginning on. As soon as I switch the Vision on that white screen appears. I remember that it normally shows the used Firmware Version on Startup.
  • It does sound like the issue is with the Vision. Does it show as a device when connected to a PC?

    Yes the Vision shows up in Garmin Express when connecting it via USB to my PC.

  • The fact that you have tried a reset and are still getting this issue does not leave you with many options. I think your next move would be to contact Garmin Support.

    When the Vision is connected to the PC it should show as device or drive. Could you post the GarminDevice.xml file that is in the Garmin folder on the Vision?

    Sure! Found an Err_Log as well. I reported my case to the Garmin support as well now. Hope this problem could be solved. :(
  • For some reason your vision is at build 3.50 and not 3.60. I wounder if the update is failing to load, which is causing the problem you are seeing. Have a look on the device for a gupdate.rgn file. It would be in the Garmin folder. If it is there delete it and see if the unit then starts. If it does you can try using Garmin Express to update it again.
