Edge Light control screen?

Hi all,
I am a happy RTL510 light and got myself the new UT800 front light for christmas.

I read from DC Rainmaker's in depth UT800 review (written on April 2017!) that a data page for controlling these unit were on the way, But it seems that after almost 2 years it haven't been released yet...

I'm combining the lights along with an Edge 1030 running 7.00 FW. but I can't find the data page. Are you aware whether this page was ever released and if not how to request it? The lights work well, but it would be nice to have the possibility to control them from the edge. Sometimes is very useful to turn on/off them in certain situations, or turning off the radar. At the same time it's great to have info about the lights (connection, battery status, etc.).
Come on Garmin, I dont think this is that complicated. Just copy what bontrager did for their FlareRT lights and add some features (radar control, for example)

  • Have you paired the headlight to the light network? You should have control over the headlight if it is connected to the light network. It's not a data field. It's a widget.
  • Hi cheracogoff

Yes, Both lights are paired to the light network, but I can't find anything in the IQ store, what is the name of the widget?

    Thanks!!
  • Have you gone through the widget screens? It should be on there when the lights are paired and turned on.
  • Yes, with lights paired and working no screen about it whatsoever...
  • I want to make sure of what you are saying. When you pull down from the top of the screen, and scroll through the various screens with the headlight and varia on, you don't see a control screen for the light network? If the lights are properly paired this screen should be there. I would suggest contacting Garmin Support by phone if the screen is not there.

On my Edge Explore, I had to enable the Light Widget from the menu system. On the Edge Explore, Menu> Connected Features> Widget Management> Light. I'll post a picture of the Light Widget below.

In the Edge 1000, Settings, Activity, Data Screens, the screen "Light Settings" is about screen number 6 or seven and is per default off.
Shouldn't be much different in the 1030.
The data screen only appeared after I removed the radar pairing and re-paired the rtl510 both as a radar and a light device. Then I also saw a Light network paring for the first time...
The status informations are available as data fields too, under "Lights" (wouldn't you have guessed) and contain "battery status", "light mode" and "paired lights". These are only information fields, though, the data screen "light settings" is where you switch off the light or on.
In my case, the RTL510 light is controlled by the (italian) IQ app "tail-light" in a selectable data field (which also shows the battery status) but that won't help with your UT800.

Well, anyway... Thank you all for your help!!
  • Glad you got it working. I think using a widget to control the lights is a good idea by Garmin.
