Time of last sensor connection

3/4 into my ride today, I realized my Varia RTL510 was gone. I had it connected to my 935. Is there anyway to see when the radar disconnected to narrow down the search area so I don't have to re-ride most of the route?

Really bummed about this. I just picked it up a week ago, and this was my first long ride. I doubt Garmin will do anything about it since it's so open to the possibility of abuse, so any help trying to locate it is appreciated.
  • Did the rubber straps fail or did it come out of the mount?

It detached from the mount. My mount was still attached.

  • Sorry this is a little 'after the horse has bolted' in your case but.... I bought a pack of camera lens-cap keepers from the net for a couple of ££. They have a self adhesive pad and elastic loop which I have round my seat rail as a failsafe. There is no 100% solution as there is no proper tether point but it's not a large amount to spend for a little more securoty. PS I guess the ride is too long to retrace on foot in the hope the light might reconnect?

Could you please share a link to the one you use?

I remember having it at the stop I made after the first decent, since cars in the parking lot were being picked up. So the following day I actually ran/walked the other two climbs/descents to look for it and couldn't find it. I was tired at that point, so I drove the rest of it and didn't spot it. (Plus I figured the rest of it was at a slower pace that if it detached and hit the ground I would have heard it, while the fast descents I wouldn't have.) In retrospect maybe I should have walked the rest of it to the point where I noticed it was gone just to be doubly sure. At this point (4 days later), however, there's no way it would reconnect even if I walked the part I hadn't done since the battery life is only suppose to be 15 hours in blinking mode.
  • No luck finding it :(

I just called Citibank, and while they have a Damage and Theft coverage, they don't cover loss...I guess if it detach and I was able recovered it but it had stopped working, then it would be covered?

    .

Hey, if you already covered the whole route and could not find it, most likely it was stolen by someone that found it there on the floor. In that case it can be covered as a theft, you just have to file a report with the police and use that report with citibank. My son lost a snorkel set on the local swimimg pool changing rooms just the day after he received it, we asked the next day to the people there and it was not on the lost items. So I filed a report with the police as it may be stolen, and with that report I received the money amount from citi.
  • The specific ones I bought on eBay are no longer there but these look identical -> https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/5x-Lens-Cover-Cap-Holder-Keeper-Anti-Loss-Strap-Lens-Cover-Cap-Strap/122510730782

    Thanks for the link!

Thanks for the suggestion! However, unlike the situation with your son where it is quite reasonable to to assume it was stolen as it wasn't in the lost items, there are reasonable explanations for why I couldn't find it (like it rolling into a storm drain). So as much as I would love to get a free replacement, I don't feel comfortable with filing it as stolen.
  • before you get your replacement ;) you can ask this developer to build some check into his datafield

    Tail Light Field

Could not find anything comparing the two fit files...I am defeated

That was a nice idea. It won't help the OP since he doesn't use an Edge device, nonetheless the new version that stores the status of the tail light in the activity .fit file has been released on the store. Thanks for the suggestion!
